Microsoft to license Adobe Flash Lite 3 for Windows Mobile

Wow! This one took me by surprise. While Flash Lite 2 has been freely available for WM users to download from Adobe, it is a standalone player and not a browser (PIE) plug-in. This license however would enable PIE web browsing of Flash enabled site. Great news for all WM users. Incidentally, the license also included Adobe Reader as well.

“People want vibrant web experiences and access to entertainment and information anywhere, anytime,” said John O’Rourke, general manager, Mobile Communications Business at Microsoft Corp. “Bringing Flash Lite and Reader LE to the Windows Mobile experience will give consumers more of their favorite websites on the go.”

I think it is very gracious for MS to make the above statement. I look forward to playing with Flash Lite 3 when it becomes available on my JASJAM.
